Lakefront Associations to Host Mayoral Forum

New Orleans, LA—The Lakeshore, Lake Vista, Lake Terrace Property Owners Association, the Lake Oaks Civic Association and the Rotary Club of New Orleans with its satellite club, New Orleans East Rotary are hosting a New Orleans mayoral candidate forum on Monday, August 25, 2025. The event at the Lakefront Airport Terminal, 6001 Stars and Stripes Boulevard, begins at 6:00 p.m. The public is invited. Doors will open at 5:00 p.m.

The one-hour forum will feature New Orleans mayoral candidates State Sen. Royce Duplessis, District E City Council member Oliver Thomas, and City Council Vice President Helena Moreno. The discussion will cover citywide issues including infrastructure, drainage, economic development, public safety and quality of life.  Candidates have been invited to appear based on independent poll results and campaign fundraising. Broadcast journalist Norman Robinson will serve as moderator.

Watch the live forum on wyes.org through WYES’ YouTube and Facebook pages. WYES-TV, your local public media station, will also broadcast the forum on Wednesday, August 27 at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, August 31 at 10:00 a.m. and Tuesday, September 2 at 11:00 p.m.

The event is being underwritten by IV Waste, owner Sidney Torres IV.  "As a New Orleans native and a business owner, I believe it's my responsibility to help improve our city,” Torres said.  “Sponsoring this forum is about empowering our community with the information it needs to make the best choice for our future."
