( Note
from NOPD, 3rd District )
Dear Lakeshore Land Owner:
As we enter the Fall/Winter season, I
take this opportunity to report positive developments
in Lakeshore.
Since my last report to you, we received
word that the local FEMA office submitted to Washington,
DC for approval an additional sidewalk/street grant of
$7.4 million for the Lakeshore/Lake Vista area. This is
in addition to the approximate $200,000 grant for improvements
already completed to date. This is a significant increase
from our initial inspection that came as a direct result
of our membership effort. All who participated by submitting
individual damage reports to the City’s contractor
are commended. Unfortunately, it will take at least another
year for actual repairs to take place. However, on the
positive side, once approved by Washington, the funds
are earmarked for our area and cannot be used for any
other purpose.
We did have a few incidents of burglary
in the neighborhood which we believe were all perpetrated
by a single group of individuals who have now left
our
area. It has been relatively calm the past few months
and we hope that it will remain that way, as it has
in
the past. Everyone should be diligent and report any
unusual activity first to the NOPD or 911, then to Metro
Security @ 504-835-5421.
We recently created an email list-serve
for the purpose of sending our membership notices of interest
dealing with emergency preparedness, crime, and upcoming
city-wide meetings of interest. You must be a member
of our association for inclusion on the list-serve.
SEMI-ANNUAL GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

Our semi-annual membership meeting will
be held on Monday, November 14, 2011,
7:00 p.m., Orleans Levee District meeting room on Spanish
Fort Boulevard. The meeting room is on the second

as well as hear from our invited guests, many of whom
will be political leaders in our City. Councilmember Susan
Guidry has already given us her commitment as has NOPD
Commander Dean.
Additionally, we will hold the annual
election for our 11 directors to the Lakeshore Property
Owners Association Board. If anyone is interested in serving
on our board, please contact me via email or telephone
to advise of your desire to serve. We hold monthly meetings,
interact with local service providers, and take necessary
measures to improve the quality of Lakeshore life throughout
the year. I need to hear from you no later than November
4, 2011, if you would like to be considered for
nomination.
